Present at the 10 editions of WTM Latin America, the Spanish hotel chain has arrived with new products and services this year. With a focus on sustainability as the driving force behind the business, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is firmly committed to responsible tourism and progress towards its  2030 Agenda, based on well-defined goals such as becoming waste-free by 2025 and carbon-neutral by 2030 – 20 years ahead of the global goal for the sector.

Camila Paulini, manager of sustainability at Iberostar in Brazil, is taking part in a panel discussion on the topic of ”Best Solutions for Waste Management”at this year's WTM Latin America. This meeting will see her participate in a discussion with other experts from the sector on the company's best practices in areas such as reducing carbon emissions, including Scopes 1 and 2, in addition to the 3R department at Iberostar hotels. This event is due to be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, at the Explore Transformation Theater. More information can be found here.

Furthermore, in line with the company's efforts to raise awareness with regard to curtailing the use of single-use plastic products, Iberostar has installed two drinking water fountains at the trade fair, where visitors can refill their bottles or obtain a reusable cup made from sugar cane from the brand´s exhibit booth. In 2020, Iberostar achieved the milestone of being the first chain with more than 100 single-use plastic free hotels.

Renovations, campaigns and more

The DNA of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is geared to providing its customers with an amazing experience and, as such, the company has an ambitious plan to renovate its hotels in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica. Around 20 million dollars are being invested in the renovation of more than 2,600 rooms, as well as common areas such as swimming pools, bars and restaurants and the Star Camp facilities.

An excellent example of what we are doing is the recent comprehensive renovation of the 528 rooms and most of the facilities at the Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus, in Bayahibe, in the Dominican Republic. This hotel now features high-tech in-room facilities such as Chromecast, USB outlets, new reading lamps and a modern key system connected to guests' wristbands and phones via a QR Code. We believe that these renovations will continue to provide our guests from all age groups with innovation, comfort, enthusiasm and an amazing experience
