Iberostar celebrates the reopening of its hotels in Mexico with endless news for the kids. The new superhero, Captain Star Hero, has a message that might just save the day for vacationing kids and their families: Safety never takes a day off. Captain Star Hero uses an encouraging tone and simple language to empower kids through fun activities such as spraying glowing powder on kids’ hands for hand wash training and encouraging them not to touch their faces or other people. Kids also play mime games, wear imaginary capes to cover their mouth when they sneeze and wear a glowing star on their chest that glows at night to promote social distancing, corporal communication, imagination and a superhero spirit.
Captain Star Hero is part of Iberostar’s How We Care program and its commitment to providing families with the best vacation experience. The activities are part of the hotel’s popular Star Camp, and they aim to ensure safety and reinforce the message of self-care and protecting others through fun games that create organic learning experiences.
New activities and Wave of Change shows
As part of the Star Camp novelties in its hotels in Mexico, the hotel chain takes a step forward and presents three new shows within its children's entertainment program, designed around the spirit of sustainability of Iberostar and aligned with the pillars of Wave of Change: Tati, a show on circularity and recycling that explains the importance of eliminating the use of single-use plastics; Wanda, a show about the responsible consumption of seafood; and Curtis, a third show entirely dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of coastal health and the protection of corals and mangroves.
The initiatives also include one day a week dedicated entirely to the oceans. This fun-filled day offers activities like looking for plastic on the beach or crafting sessions with recycled materials. Fun and games provide the little ones with the opportunity to interact with the environment to teach younger generations to promote future sustainability.
Iberostar also presents new developments in infrastructures, with a new and spectacular water park of 3,200 m2 in Paraíso complex. This new facility includes a new nine-meter-high platform with seven slides, which reach a length of more than 60 meters. In addition, it has a new swimming pool with a pirate ship and an artificial beach area for children's games with various aquatic elements.
The addition of the new activities to the Star Camp program follows Iberostar’s announcement of its more than 300 safety and health measures underway its operations worldwide and the activation of its Medical Advisory Board made up of health experts for the tourism industry. Some of the measures taken to ensure the safety of Iberostar’s guests include limited occupancy of up to 70%, advanced booking for entertainment experiences and family activities, greater distances between hammocks and furniture, and 24-hour e-concierge experience via Iberostar’s app for iPhone and Android devices.
