Commitment to a responsible tourism model

Among the aspects that have supported Iberostar’s inclusion on the list is its approach to a model of responsible and positive tourism, which places people and the planet at the centre. Through its Iberostar Wave of Change movement, the company promotes inclusive, equitable, and enriching work environments; strengthens its commitment to communities, fostering the socioeconomic development of the destinations where it operates; drives actions to protect marine biodiversity and mitigate climate impact, from the reefs in the Caribbean to the Posidonia meadows in the Mediterranean. Likewise, the company works to promote a more conscious gastronomic offer that connects with the ocean as a source of life and works on concrete actions focused on the restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems as well as consolidates a circular experience in its hotels, minimizing waste, improving energy efficiency, and extending the useful life of materials. And all this, without losing sight of responsible growth, which balances profitability, rigorous environmental management, and positive social impact.

Being included in the TIME100 list underscores that advancing positive change—rooted in science, collaboration, and purpose—can be transformative in driving business growth. By embedding a responsible strategic approach throughout our entire business, we aim to demonstrate that sustainability is not an add-on, but generates long-term value. This recognition reinforces our vision to shape a model of tourism that actively supports nature, empowers local communities, and creates resilience—for the benefit of generations to come
