Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, the Spanish hotel company, presents its new Star Camp, a program offered by the chain, which combines entertainment and education with values, for children and teenagers aged 4 to 12. The program now has new areas and activities, which begin operating on November 3, 2023, at the Iberostar Praia do Forte Complex, in Bahia. The goal is to provide even more fun for kids.

Of particular note is the complete renovation of the areas dedicated to Star Camp, which occupy over 1400m² of the complex. In the outdoor area, the program now includes a Splash Park, Psychomotor Space, Mini Soccer Field, Trampoline, Vegetable Garden, and Multifunctional Circuits. Meanwhile, the indoor area features an amphitheatre, Mini Chef, and specific games for each age group: Dolphin (8 to 12 years) and Monkey (4 to 7 years).

The program focuses on exploring creativity, healthy habits, diversity, and environmental respect.

At Star Camp, we see children's vacations as a unique opportunity to learn, develop healthy habits, and make friends from around the world. Star Camp allows us to combine all of this with even more fun

Ramón Girón

Director of Operations for Iberostar in Brazil.

The Star Camp program is based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences: Logical-Mathematical, Linguistic, Spatial, Musical, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and Naturalistic. This educational model recognizes that children learn in different ways, depending on their ways of seeing and thinking about the world. Following this concept, the theories are grouped into a core value for each day: teamwork, exploration, diversity, environment, healthy habits, local culture and oceans.

100% renewable energy.

In June, Iberostar announced the mark of operating with 100% renewable energy in its hotels in Bahia. The complex, which includes two hotels, the Iberostar Selection Praia do Forte and the Iberostar Bahia, and over a thousand rooms, employs more than 2,000 people and welcomes approximately 181,000 guests per year, consuming 21,217 MWh of energy in 2022.

The company continues to lead a model of responsible tourism and has brought to Brazil something that has already been successful in Spain. All Iberostar hotels in Spain consume electricity from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin, a measure that avoids the emission of more than 18,000 tons of CO2eq per year. In Brazil alone, Iberostar is preventing more than 4,000 tons of CO2eq emissions.

The Iberostar Praia do Forte Complex has been using solar energy for some of its resources since 2010. In addition to investing in renewable electricity, it has certified the origin of this energy through i-REC (Renewable Energy Certificate). These projects align with the Spanish hotel group's goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
