The Mallorcan hotelier achieves the highest recognition for its sustainability strategy in the 'Best Eco-Conscious Hotel Group 2023' category.
The Mallorcan hotel group, Iberostar, recognized for its sustainable tourism model, has been celebrated the 2023 Beyond Luxury Awards for its eco-conscious approach to tourism and its steadfast commitment to sustainability, particularly in the realms of environmental and ocean preservation.
These awards, which celebrate luxury hotels across the Iberian Peninsula, are judged by a panel of industry experts closely associated with the sector. They have awarded Iberostar's promotion of responsible tourism, emphasizing the comprehensive and effective ecological initiative, within the "Best Eco-Conscious Hotel Group 2023" category.
With sustainability at its core, the Group has positioned the circular economy as the focal point of its strategy, underscoring the company's dedication to environmental preservation and ocean conservation through its pioneering Wave of Change initiative.
Launched in 2017, this initiative has inspired Iberostar's ambitious Agenda 2030, with objectives including the elimination of waste sent to landfills and ensuring 100% responsibility in its seafood supply chain - both by 2025 - achieving carbon neutrality and enhancing the well-being of ecosystems surrounding its hotels by 2030.
The award ceremony, which took place in Mallorca on 19th October, was attended by 80 representatives from the finest five-star and luxury five-star hotels from the Iberian Peninsula, including both winners and nominees across the 21 categories.
